bee behavior

If I am like any out there, it’ll have to be the bee. Busy. Taking care of what is expected of me. Running to finish up the work of this semester.

But it’s not all bad. Indeed, not any of it is bad. This evening, after finishing paper-reading, I went out to Ed’s farmette to finish planting. 36 tomato plants. Seeds of peas and onions. Cosmos flowers, around the already planted black eyed cones, russian sage, sweet william. A palate reflecting our backgrounds. I’m happy with veggies, but I miss the flowers.

People say it was sunny, but that it felt cool outside today. I did not notice.

You can't fool us. You love your job. You lose yourself in work even when running to finish the end of semester. I know what it is like. When I'm working on a painting, time simply disappears along with everything else. Sun, rain, hot, cold don't exist. Just the painting. That 'in the zone' focus is the reward of the work.

Every time you write about your teaching and your students, your joy shines bright. I would have loved to have been in your class.
