a fine Friday

Good morning, cheepers! It's going to be a fine day!

Sunshine in the morning...

Breakfast in the sun room...

Then, in an unusual scheduling twist, Snowdrop comes to the farmhouse to play.

Hi Snowdrop!

Ready to read? Oh, that one again? Well, okay.

She is not here for long. After feeding the cheepers, after a nap and lunch, we pick up her mom and we drive to the Forestry Department's annual tree sale. Balsams!

Puzzled - yes, of course. Why are there all these trees inside a big barn??  But with reassurance, she gets into the spirit of things.

The tree is loaded, we come to Snowdrop's home and the unpacking of holiday decorations begins. The Nativity scene!

And the quilted tree skirt -- a real favorite!

And the tree. My daughter puts out treats for us tree trimmers. Goldie the cat is coaxed into several bits of prosciutto.

Here are the young parents: jovial and spirited.

And here is Snowdrop, loving her very own gingerbread man.

(When she sees us eating pizza, she switches her allegiance. Good bye ginger bread man, hello leftover pizza crust.)

The tree is up, trimmed, lit. Snowdrop has been such a good kid during the entire saga. She deserves a pause, an explanation, a reassurance that this is not the beginning of a weird disequilibrium where trees enter houses and grownups wear reindeer antlers and fur trimmed hats for no discernible purpose.

She accepts our reassurance. She is happy. We are happy.

The tree is up. Our whole family will gather by it during the holidays. For now I pack up the leftover pizza and bring it home to the farmhouse.
