a blurr

Crazy Sunday.

Intense cleaning at the farmhouse: I had Ed take apart the drain in the bathroom so that we could do a thorough swipe of any grime. (It was a messy job.) And the usual dusting and vacuuming and who knows what else. When we finished, it was lunch time. Even as for us, it was breakfast.

It looked to be a nice day, but we had almost none of it. Except for a walk to the compost pile.

Later, I help my girl pick out a Christmas tree for their home.

We speculate whether their recently adopted cat would knock down a decorated tree.
Nah... (I'll let you know if I'm proven wrong.)

Finally, in the evening, I speed through a few hours of work, then a spirited game of bowling with Ed and finally an easy spaghetti dinner with my girl and her husband. In an unusual move, I suggest we pull up our plates and watch the sort of insane but nonetheless fun show Amazing Race.

Are there any hours left in the day? I don't think so. Oh dear, that's not good. I have quite a bit of work left for tonight!

Sleep well, Ocean friends! Back to my tasks now...

  1. Happy last week of classes! It is the last, right? I am sure there are bittersweet aspects, but I hope that right now you are focusing on celebrating the last grueling round of lecture preparations.

  2. Aha. Another Amazing Race fan. Wouldn't you and Ed be an amazing entry?

  3. Barbara - yes it is, pant pant pant pant...

George H. - my daughters have so suggested, many many times, but since there was a Wisconsin couple recently (possibly the winners?) I would have to say that our chances at nabbing a spot would be low. Although since they tend to pick people with an interesting dynamic, perhaps Ed would push our candidacy forward, no?

  4. You could start your own show, called the "Where in the world will Nina go next?" show. Maybe put it on TV four times a year. Videotape your trips. I think it would be wonderful and would surely beat out some of the other mild-mannered travel shows.

  5. Bex -- I could, though it would mostly be without Ed and predominantly to Europe! Still, he and I do have something planned, together, in January. Until then, it's solo and, well, rather predictable! This time!
