sunny Wednesday

What a difference a blue sky makes! It is a cool day, but you'd never know it: sunshine encourages us to think past the chill and to embrace all the good that is still with us today, on this late October Wednesday.

But the sun did not come early. Certainly not early enough to push us to a disc golf game, or to my finishing the planting of bulbs (less than a dozen left!). Instead, I dusted off my Great Writing Project and savored the time I had to immerse myself in it (as I tell Ed -- I love the actual work, but getting myself to toss aside all of life's distractions to get to it is hard, really hard).

All that, of course, after breakfast.

Yesterday was so cold that when I picked up Snowdrop, she could not find joy in the outdoors. Today she is prepared. When I come to her school to pick her up, she is listening with her friend to a story read by her teacher. I could recognize those Snowdrop puffs anywhere!

But in fact, the sun makes head coverings unnecessary.

The little one is thrilled to have unadulterated play outside.

And by the time we are at the farmette, she sheds the jacket as well, 50F (10C) notwithstanding.

Three hours of superb outdoor play! How can I tell her that winter is just around the corner?
