In my informal introductions to a new class of students today, I found out that one person had the unusual opportunity to stand on the stage with Bon Jovi. Did you talk to her? I asked.
I just don’t pay attention to celebrity names.
Yes, I’m back in class. Back on campus, back on the bike trails leading downtown. Back on Library Mall, thinking – it’s so much more colorful here when students are around.
Back in my office, late, late, watching students out on Bascom Hill (just outside my window) 'studying' in the barely warm evening sun.
I get on my bike and pedal home. The street construction is finished. The ride is smooth. Fast. At home I defrost lasagna and go over a new syllabus for another set of classes tomorrow.
My brain scrambled your last sentence there and I "read": defrosted a syllabus - LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I have to do for my sole class which starts in a couple of weeks. I really love putting together a syllabus, charting out the progression of ideas and material we'll cover.
I guess it's not right to say "congratulations on starting a new school year," so I will stick with best wishes.
And so the adventure begins. Another school year full of possibilities. I hope your students appreciate how lucky they are to be in your class.
ReplyDeleteI always looked forward to the first day of school, perhaps because of illness I was home-schooled until I entered the fourth grade had something to do with it. I loved the challenge and adventure of learning and i was blessed with teachers who loved their calling. The best of them knew how to instill a joy of learning, how to ask the right questions, and when we faltered helped us learn one of life's most important lessons: no task is too hard and with time and hard work it can be accomplished.
