behind bars
Stuck. From early morning until late at night, in the confines of my workplace. Meetings, more meetings, workshops, all necessary, all beneficial, I’m sure, but at the end of the day, the image I retain is one shared by any soul who has long days at work (meaning the vast majority of humankind) – of a day going by too quickly, with too few pages read, too few hands held, too few crushed spirits (at home, in school…) soothed.
There was a pause in our various and sundry meetings. I looked up from where I was sitting (in the corner of a law school room, where I could hide within my space and listen and watch) and saw this view. The Capitol, as a metaphor for the cake, out of reach for now, but waiting, to be approached, enjoyed, at the end of the day.
Too bad that I am in this month feverishly counting calories.
