Ed and I had an early breakfast, before the young people were awake and about...
(The cheepers, too, were early risers...)
And then the kids came down and it was so clear that what they needed more than anything else was rest. and so I reached into my miniscule DVD collection and we watched three yes, three food movies in a row. It was so decadent, so rich, so... funny!
(So not for the camera... Oh wait, the cheese and crackers and sausage! I'll post a shot of that.)
In the evening we gathered for one last time at my older girl's place. Supper? Oh, eventually, after hours of reminiscing about who did what and when and for what reason, we ordered Laotian food, delivered.
Peaceful days make for quiet blog posts. And that is exactly what I want to leave you with tonight: the quiet.
We just got home from the northern relatives...always so great to go somewhere, even better to come home again. To my trees, my kitchen, my bed, and some quiet time.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy food movies! Recently saw The Trip and Chef. From long ago, Big Night comes to mind. What did you see? Recommendations from you and the kids?
You're having a nice long time together. Real time.
Re food movies: They hadn't seen "Chef," so we watched that. Also a favorite is "Tortilla Soup." Next time I'll drag out "100 Steps," but this time we went back to "Julie and Julia."
DeleteIt's really been a long time since we were all able to turn our back on world and just go through the days together. It was, for that reason, a really special set of days. There is, of course, an underlying theme: the talk is very much about the future, sprinkled in with just a little bit of the past. A stellar combination!
Funny to think of Ohio as having a northern sphere! Of course it does! But I always think of it as just being central. Middle. Though of course, your southern counties are so very different from your lake shore cities...
