Sunday email conversation with a friend

I’m off grocery shopping now…need anything?
No, thanks, I’m fine with my jug of milk and tin of granola back home.

I’m picking up the usual [a list of “the usuals” follows], and of course chocolate.
What kind do you eat? Dark? Milk? With nuts?

Depends on my mood. I pick up a 3.5 oz bar, either milk, or with nuts. It lasts me a week to ten days.

There the conversation stopped. I mean, how can you email-talk to someone who takes a whole week to polish off a bar of chocolate? What kind of repressed, restrained, unimpassioned individual do we have here?

Amends were made when some was delivered to the loft, you know to butter me up some so I wouldn’t write this post. But I tell it like it is. Some of my friends are awfully tight about their eating habits.

  1. Well, it often takes me a week to ten days to polish off the bars of Belgian chocolate I get at Trader Joe's, but I think you will forgive me -- they are of the "Pound Plus" size, 500 g (nearly 18 ounces).

    Some people just don't understand.

  2. it is hard to not make the association these days that food=death. isnt everything sprayed, process, bled of nutrients, fortified and preserved before sold. i have food issues that have become increasingly phobic. often times food scares me.

Don't understand? Don't understand? Well, excuse me, some of us savior that first rush of flavor, we don't need 500g to feel the penetrating rush of warmth that sends waves of pleasure down our spines, the first bite is all the joy that human flesh can withstand. Maybe you are using the wrong chocolate. Can I recommend something with a Polish heritage rather than Belgian?
