The Chicago family is in Wisconsin. The two parents are attending some musical event, leaving me their little Primrose for her first farmhouse solo overnight. Moreover, we are all gathering tomorrow to celebrate. Little Sparrow, the youngest of my grandkids, will be one year old!
The weekend is packed.
I am up so early that I catch the yard in its most shady moment. And look who's here again -- furry Tulip. It's an interesting scene: the big young cat is on the table, Stop Sign and Dance are cuddling on the garage blanket. Stop Sign seems to be coming back to her daughter more and more. They tolerate Tulip, but for all his fur and quiet demeanor, they mostly just leave the Maine Coon alone.
(Garden glory...)
Meanwhile, back in the farmhouse, look who is stirring! My overnight guests are up! (Primrose loves this doll house, possibly because the size works so well for her right now.)
We eat an early-ish breakfast...
(This guy too!)
Ready to get the day going!
But first, a quick garden tour!
We all meet up at the market. All the womenfolk, that is.
(Two girls and their croissants...)
(Snowdrop adores her little cousin. Totally. I'm sure it's mutual, but of course, Snowdrop is the oldest and so she has the tools to express it well...)
(The two little ones with their moms...)
(Brunch at Sardine: Sparrow, his dad and Ed join us for this.)
Snowdrop draws. Primrose just wants to hold the markers. Sparrow is happy to merely watch.
In the afternoon, the young couple head out and I am left with Primrose. It's warm enough for the wading pool. I dig out an old Snowdrop swimsuit...
Inside again, my Chicago grandgirl takes up drawing...
Primrose is a smiling, happy little girl. But no one, no one can do a serious face better!
Dinner: it's just Ed, Primrose and me. On the porch. Veggies with pizza. Or is it pizza with veggies?
We will surely get rain tomorrow. No matter: we had a beautiful set of days with plenty of outdoor play. A memorable time indeed!
