A day of cold outside. Just one day. A warning.
A day of cleaning up a very messy lily field. (One missed clipping yesterday and it looks like a herd of buffalo knocked off half the flowers out there.)
A day of making lists so that I can rest assured that I will make it through the next month. (So much going on!)
A day of fresh corn.
This is how my morning actually began: with a trip to Stoneman's, for their corn. The local paper was there as were the feverishly committed corn enthusiasts. Stoneman's has been running out in the course of the day. I had asked how early do I have to get there to be assured of corn and they said -- 9, when we open! So I am there at 9, when they opened.
(the kids help out by figuring out the change...)
I to return to lily cleaning right after.
(peaches)
What a mess! But, it's the last big hurrah. The fields are closing down for the year, though I know where to still find some splendid beauties.
Breakfast, on the porch. I warm up the croissant from yesterday's Hewn Bakery and I comment to Ed on how croissants are like snowflakes. This one is indeed hugely different from the rest, even though essential elements are the same. Delicious! He tries it and agrees.
And soon after, I pick up Snowdrop on her last day of space art camp.
Any camp, actually. She is done for the summer!
At the farmette, I'm learning some new photo technologies, so you get a few pics of the girl playing outside.
("are the peaches ripe yet?" "not quite...")
She has wanted to bake blueberry muffins and so we do that today. Lovely baking moment because these guys really are so easy that a child can do it!
Every once in a while, I keep going back to my to do list for the week and I add things to it. Wait, I need to start crossing out stuff! Still, putting it down on paper makes me feel that it will get done. It will get done!
Snowdrop gets dropped off at home, I say hi to the gang.
... and then I return home, to work on a camera issue. It's at the top of my to do list and by the end of the day, I have actually crossed out that item -- one out of 856, but still, the top one! -- off my list.
Exhaling, with love.
